The Tuition Club resumes tomorrow Monday 23rd April at 10am, for the first half of the Summer term. We hope our home schooled students had an enjoyable Spring break and we look forward to them returning for another exciting term in shaa Allaah!
Year 2 students have been learning about Symmetry within their Maths lessons.
When something is symmetrical it means it is the same on both sides.
The students were given a shape and asked to draw lines of symmetry on them. To help understand the concept and how to find the line of symmetry, the children were presented with shapes to fold in half so that they could see clearly that one side was the same as the other.
A shape has symmetry if a central dividing line (a mirror line) can be drawn on it that shows that both sides of the shape are exactly the same.
Throughout Term 2 our home-schooled students have produced some excellent posters on many science-based topics.
Some of these have been about the Life Cycle of a plant outlining the basic structure of a plant, for example, parts of a plan as well as what a tree needs.
Students visit the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester!
Last week, Key Stage 3 & 4 students visited the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester.
The museum is devoted to the development of science, technology, and industry with emphasis on the city’s achievements in these fields. The students initially enjoyed wandering around looking at the exhibitions and got to experience a range of interactive shows, workshops, and other learning activities.
Building on our “Growth Mindset”, students have been problem-solving and developing their lateral thinking skills to solve seemingly difficult puzzles.
On Saturday afternoon we hosted The Tuition Club Open Day 2018. The afternoon was a great opportunity for interested parents, to find out how we can support them throughout their home schooling journey.
Alhamdulillaah on Thursday afternoon, we came to the end of the Spring term 2018 at the Tuition Club and to celebrate the achievements of our home schooled students we held an end of term ceremony.
Alhamdulillaah copies of our new Tuition Club prospectus for the academic year 2017/18 have arrived. Collect your copy tomorrow at our Open Day from 2pm. Don’t miss out!
