Tuition Club Farm Visit!

Our home schooled children had the pleasure of visiting Smithills Farm yesterday during their end of term trip.

The children had the opportunity to meet a range of farm animals including sheep, alpacas, donkeys, lamas, meerkats and goats.

The children enjoyed a ride on the passenger trailer which was towed by a huge John Deere tractor driven by one of the farmers. During this ride the children saw many of the field animals and got up close and personal with the farm’s donkeys as they fed them! This was followed by a donkey ride!

An educational talk in the milk parlour took place after lunch where they listened to the farmers explain how cows are milked and watched the process right in front of them!

We ended the day on the most popular activity where our children were able to take part in bottle feeding lambs, meeting all the most recent babies and holding small animals such as chicks and rabbits.

This highly interactive visit allowed our home learners to acquire confidence in handling small animals and gave them a great insight into how a farm works!
