Mark making is still a pure form of the artist unique self-expression of the communicative process.

KS2/3 Groups Creating Topic based Posters in Science!

Our KS3 home-schooled children has created posters based on various topics such as how we obtain food, food groups, and a balanced diet which they have covered over the last half-term.

A balanced diet contains the different nutrients in the correct amounts to keep us healthy.

Imbalanced diets can cause obesity, starvation and deficiency diseases.

The children have discussed areas in detail such as energy, looking at factors that affect this.

Other topics covered have been related to how a plant makes its own food- the process of photosynthesis.

Important Parent Notice on Opening and Closing Times

Asalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu we would like to inform you that we will be slightly extending the tuition club day at no extra charge in order for the children to gain the maximum benefit from their tutor periods.

Therefore we expect all children to be in by 9:50 at the latest so we can bring the first tuition hour at 9:55.

Secondly we will open the doors at 15:05 instead.

This will be in effect from the first Monday back and applies to any children receiving only one subject tutoring in either first or last period.

Children Create Models and Posters in Science!

Our home-schooled children have created models/posters based on the topics from their Daily Science booklets such as Living things inherit a combination of traits from their parents.

The children have been learning about the following key concepts e.g. Traits and Heredity.

Every organism requires a set of instructions for specifying its traits.

Heredity is the passage of these instructions from one generation to the next.

Genetics is the science of heredity.

Netball team passing drill

The children have been focusing on basic skills of netball through regular and consistent training over the last few weeks.

There are netball drills for every aspect of the game, from shooting to conditioning, to help develop those skills.

To help players learn the different positions on the court they have been looking at techniques in changing speed and direction.

Hands-on Activity: DNA Extraction Lab

During Science some of the children have been learning about DNA.

DNA (short for deoxyribonucleic acid) is the single most important molecule
in living cells.

DNA is contained in the chromosomes, which are located inside the nucleus of a cell.

The children took part in a hands-on activity looking at what DNA looks like using a banana.

The activity followed on with an exercise discussing how the DNA looked like.

Learning about the Nomads in History!

Our Young learners have been learning all about the Nomads during History.

Nomads moved around a lot. They lived in tents.

They gathered grasses and berries and hunted animals for food.

Some people who lived during this time period slept outside.
